The ingredients needed to make Plum Cake:
  1. Get 2 cup All purpose flour(Maida)
  2. Make ready 1 tsp Baking powder

  6. Make ready 1/4 tsp ginger powder

  12. Get 1 tsp Vinegar(to be mixed with milk)
  13. Prepare 1/4 cup Chopped Almonds,Walnuts,Cashews
  14. Take 6-7 chopped Dates
  15. Take 2-3 tsp tuti fruti
  16. Take 1/3 cup Apricots,cranberries,Raisins
  17. Prepare 1/2 cup any Fruit juice(mixed fruit,orange,grapes)

Let the cake cool in the pan to absorb the juice from the plums, resulting in an especially moist cake with intense plum flavor throughout. This sumptuous seasonal bake is topped with halved plums or apricots and a buttery crumble topping - serve. This cake is actually known as Zwetschgendatschi in Bavaria, where it is most popular. Roughly translated from Bavarian to German, it would be called Pflaumenkuchen or plum cake in English.

Steps to make Plum Cake:
  1. Take fruit juice in a bowl and soak chopped dry fruits,tuti fruti,apricots,cranberries,raisins.Nuts and fruits can be added or skipped as per choice.Keep soaked for atleast an hour.
  2. Caramelized sugar Syrup-Take 1/4 cup sugar in a pan and let it get melt.Keep stirring.When sugar melts and starts bubbling. Add 1-2 tsp water.Keep stirring.Be careful while adding water.Syrup will get ready.Let it get cool.
  3. Sieve together all the dry ingredients;Maida,milk powder,cinnamon powder,ginger powder,nutmeg powder,baking powder,baking soda and salt.
  4. Take 3/4 cup sugar,milk(mixed with vinegar for half an hour) in a mixer.Also add 3/4 cup oil.Blend together.
  5. Mix together caramelized sugar syrup with soaked fruits.Add these in flour.Later mix milk paste in flour using cut and fold method.Add milk if needed to make thick flowing batter.Pour batter in greased cake tin.
  6. Bake the Cake.It can be baked at 180 degree in a preheated oven for 40-45 minutes.For baking in cooker,spread a layer of sand/salt in cooker and place a stand.Keep cake tin on stand and close the lid without using whistle and gasket.Bake for 40-45 minutes.Check using tooth pick
  7. Let the cake cool down.Demould it. Sprinkle powdered sugar on cake

BUT Zwetschgen aren't ordinary plums, a Datschi isn't really a Kuchen, and a Kuchen is most definitely not a cake! Or at least not a tall, spongy cake – it's flatter. Place the plum halves skin side up on top of the batter. Sprinkle lightly with sugar and lemon juice, depending on the sweetness of the fruit. One of my favorite cakes as a kid was an upside-down pineapple cake.
