  13. Take 5-6 garlic cloves

  15. Get 5-6 curry leaves
  16. Get 1 gooseberry sized tamarind
  17. Get 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

Steps to make Malbar Spinach Raw Curry:
  1. For raw masala… blend all ingredients under raw masala to the smooth paste by adding required amount of water, keep aside.
  2. Chop the basale soppu / malabar spinach roughly
  3. Chop stem 2" long and cook it by adding water and soaked green gram, without salt.
  4. After well cook add spinach and salt.
  5. After transulant add the ground masala.
  6. Bring it to boil vigorously 10 minutes.
  7. If you need add seasoning of mustard seeds, red chilli and garlic.(it is optional)
  8. Serve it with rice or rice kadubu.

This is the dish what I used to eat since my childhood. Dal & rice and this malabar spinach curry is a perfect combination. But I love this curry with khichdi because pumpkin & various other vegetables are added here.
