  13. Prepare 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  14. Prepare 1 teaspoon Ginger paste
  15. Prepare As required Freshly ground black Pepper powder

Orange chicken is one popular Chinese dish. And yeah Chinese prawns is a sister version. This is my fusion recipe , where I have adjusted the spice as per my taste. Hence , a slight colour change compared to the authentic recipe.

Instructions to make Chinese Orange Prawns:
  1. Toss the prawns in a tablespoon of corn starch and turmeric powder. Rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pan. Let the oil be super hot. - - Drop the marinated prawns in the hot oil and shallow fry both the sides. Fry till it turns golden and not too dark. - - Transfer the fried prawns to a plate. Set aside.
  3. In a mixer, take orange juice, red chilli flakes, fresh pepper corns 2 tablespoons (adjust accordingly), orange zest, little tomato sauce. Grind into a coarse paste. Not too coarse nor smooth. - - In the same pan, heat oil. Fry the chopped garlic pieces. Add and sauté onions till translucent.
  4. Add a teaspoon of corn starch. - - Add a teaspoon of ginger paste. Mix. - - Pour the ground mixture. Keep stirring under low to medium flame.
  5. Add the remaining tomato sauce, soya sauce. Stir till the sauce thickens. - - The consistency is upto your choice. - - Add freshly chopped green onions. Add salt .
  6. Now add the fried prawns to this sauce and toss it well under high flame. - - In two minutes, the sauce thickens much better and coats perfectly over the prawns. - - Orange prawns are ready. - - Garnish with spring onions. - - Serve hot.
