  1. Wash and soak all ingredients for at least 2 hours.
  2. Grind the methi seeds for 3 minutes till fluffy. I am using a wet grinder for grinding.
  3. Drain and add the Udad Dal and grind for about 15 minutes till it turns fluffy and soft. Add the soaked water as needed for the grinder to run smoothly. Scrape the sides of the grinder jar in between.
  4. Remove batter into a big bowl. Add the rice to the grinder. Grind rice to rava like texture. Add it to the Udad dal batter.
  5. Soak Idli Rava for 2 minutes. Squeeze the rava and add to the other batters and mix well. Set aside for fermentation for 8 hours.
  6. Once the batter has risen well, add salt and soaked water as needed for correct consistency and mix well.
  7. Make idlis as usual. Steam them for 6-8 minutes. Soft sponge like idlis are ready šŸ˜‹ Serve it with sambhar, chutney or milagai podi šŸ‘Œ
