  1. In large sauce pan put stock, cut up cabbage, onions bring to a boil and cook till soft

  3. After onion and cabbage are cooked add sausage to large sauce pan.

  5. Let simmer for about an hr. Add more stock or water if needed.
  6. I tend to not cook with pasta because noodles soak up water. So I will cook it on the side and put a table spoon of pasta at the bottom of my bowl and poor soup over. I also freeze this and reheat in crockpot. U can also cook it in the crock pot! Just cook sausage first.

Use a slotted spoon to transfer the sausage to a separate plate, and set aside. Add the olive oil, leeks, carrots and celery to the pan, and stir to combine. Add water, cabbage, sausage, tomatoes and brown sugar; bring to a boil. Add beans, vinegar, salt and pepper. Making this kielbasa and cabbage with egg noodles made me want to cook other cabbage dishes too: corned beef and cabbage, unstuffed cabbage roll soup, Asian cabbage slaw… It might become the new vegetable of the hour for me.
