  2. Take 1 pc Chinese sausage or BBQ Pork

  7. Take 1/2 tsp salt
  8. Make ready 1 tsp sugar

  11. Get 2 tsp corn starch in 1 tbsp water

I added some powdered ginger I think it gave the recipe some added mppphhh:.) I also used canned bean sprouts. You can make this recipe using canned or fresh ingredients or a combo of the two. The first time I made this I made them vegetarian because I lacked some of the other. This was an excellent egg foo yung.

Instructions to make Foo Yung Egg:
  1. Unshell prawns, clean with salt and baking soda and wash with lots of water. Marinate prawn with salt, sugar, pepper, Shaoxing wine and some corn flour for 30 minutes. Pan fry the prawns till 80% cooked and set aside.
  2. Beat the eggs with seasoning and the corn starch solution till the egg yoke and white all mixed.
  3. Stir fry the Chinese sausage and add in the onions and spring onions till aroma. Remove everything in wok and put in the beaten eggs. Add in the prawns into the egg mixture also.
  4. Add in 2 to 3 tbsp oil in wok. This egg require more oil to fry. Add in the bowl of egg mixture into the wok. Wait for egg to settle down and slowly spread out the mixture to make the omelette round shape and larger. Flip the omelette to the other side and cook till a bit dry and aroma. Ready to serve.

I only used a sprinkle of salt instead of the whole teaspoon and it was plenty salty for us. Next time I would totally omit the salt and perhaps sub some light soy sauce for some of the real. To make the egg foo yung sauce, bring the chicken broth to a boil over medium heat. Stir in the soy sauce, rice wine, sesame oil, and pepper to taste. Turn up the heat slightly and add the dissolved cornstarch-water mixture, stirring quickly to thicken.
