  1. Make ready 800 grm Chicken breast cubes
  2. Make ready 1 cup Raw rice
  3. Make ready 1/4 cup Bengal gram or chana dal
  4. Prepare 1/4 cup Pigeon pea lentils or toor dal
  5. Get 1/4 cup Red lentils
  6. Get 1/4 cup Black gram or urad dal
  7. Prepare 1 1/2 cups broken wheat or daliya
  8. Prepare 1/4 cup Ghee
  9. Get 1/4 cup Oil
  10. Take 1 1/2 tbsp salt
  11. Get 2 tsp red chilli powder
  12. Make ready 1 tsp blackpepper powder
  13. Take 1 tsp turmeric
  14. Prepare 1 tsp garam masala
  15. Get 2 cups fried onions
  16. Prepare 3 green chillies chopped
  17. Take 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  18. Get 1 cup curd
  19. Get 1/4 cup coriander leaves finely chopped
  20. Get 1/4 cup mint leaves finely chopped
  21. Take 1/4 cup Ginger Juliennes
  22. Make ready 5-6 lemon wedges
  23. Take 2 cinnamon sticks (whole garam masala or khada masala)
  24. Get 10 blackpepper corns
  25. Get 10 cloves
  26. Make ready 1 tsp caraway seeds
  27. Take 1/2 tsp cubeb pepper powder
Instructions to make Hyderabadi Chicken Khichda:
  1. First of all deep fry the onions and set aside. Soak rice, broken wheat and lentils overnight.
  2. In a pressure cooker, add soaked rice and lentils along with half a litre of water. Add salt to taste and pressure cook for 6 whistles.
  3. Meanwhile cook broken wheat in a pot until done. Cover and simmer on a low heat for about 20 to 25 minutes.
  4. Now to another cooking pot, add oil and ginger garlic paste along with all the 5 khada masalas mentioned. Fry them all for a minute and then add the chicken cubes. Also add all the spices along with the beaten curd and cook until done. After done, mash it well with a masher and keep aside.
  5. To this cooked chicken add the pressure cooked rice and lentil mix. Let the broken wheat cool down a bit before grinding it to a smooth paste. Or better still use a traditional gothni that is used for mashing it.
  6. Add this broken wheat to the chicken and lentil mix first and then mash it if using a traditional gothni. Also add fried onions.
  7. Add ghee to it along with chopped coriander and mint leaves. Adjust salt and sprinkle garam masala on top. Serve it hot with lemon wedges, fried onions and ginger juliennes.
