We grew up with eggnog, the kind you buy in a carton, and every Christmas holiday we kids drank up as much of it as we could. This is a great eggnog with or without alcohol.

  1. Prepare 1 gallon milk
  2. Take 1 gallon heavy cream

  7. Prepare 32 each egg whites
  8. Get 4 cup granulated sugar

He grew up enjoying glasses of eggnog alongside snickerdoodle cookies and this was a memory I wanted to bring back for him. This eggnog recipe is thick, sweet, creamy and smooth, with the perfect flavor.

Instructions to make Traditional Eggnog:
  1. combine egg yolks and sugar untill smooth
  2. add milk, cream, vanilla, bourbon, cinnamon, and nutmeg
  3. beat egg whites with 3 tablespoons of sugar, until soft peaks. combine with the rest of the mix.
  4. serve chilled, garnish with cinnamon

It doesn't contain alcohol (if you'd like to add some, read on for my suggestions), but we are non-alcohol drinkers at my house, and I wanted an eggnog recipe my kids can enjoy too. Traditional eggnog has a significant fat content, due to the use of cream, and a high sugar content. Ingredients vary significantly between different recipes. This was my first time ever making eggnog and It was perfect the first time around so easy that even a fourteen year old could do it and that's me! Eggnog may be stored, covered, in the refrigerator for several days.
