- Preheat the oven to gas mark 6, 204° Celsius or 400° Fahrenheit. An optional step is to line your baking try with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl add and mix all your all your dry ingredients of porridge, Sunflower Seeds,Cinnamon,Cardamom, sea salt and ground ginger.
- Next, in another bowl combine the wet ingredients with the dried fruits.
- Mix all the ingredients together then transfer the mixture onto the lined baking sheet and spread it out evenly.
- Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, stirring halfway through. Then gently press the stirred granola down with a wooden spoon (or spatula) so that it sticks together. (This will depend on your oven)
- Check after 16-18 minutes if the granola is already lightly brown. Watch it closely, to avoid burning. Remove the baking sheet from the oven.
- Let it cool completely without touching it. Once it gets cooler the granola will crisp up. Store in air-tight containers.
I've kept nut-free granolas in the house from time to time, including Early Bird Kiss My Oats, a brand I love.(I hoard the ones chock full of nuts for myself.) But: quality product; premium prices. Line a roasting pan or cookie sheet with parchment paper or foil. Spread the oatmeal mixture out into a single layer in the pan.
